This week for our ’Fashionably Fit’ series, Style to Envy chatted with ‘Lucky Gemma’, a young law student and Instagram fitness inspiration and star! We stumbled upon this fitness gal one day on Instagram in her #absbeforebed series, started to follow and decided why not reach out to her for a little Q&A.
Q: How do you stay active on a constant basis?
A: My physical activities primarily consist of running. I love running and exploring the outdoor – with good music on my iPod and beautiful scenery, I could run forever! I also keep my muscles toned by lifting weights in the gym and doing at home exercises like #absbeforebed and #myglutesrock.
Q: Who or what has been your greatest fitness influence?
A: I am influenced by my ambition to grow in fitness as I grow in age – 30, 40, 50 years from now I want to look good, feel good, and be in good health.
Q: What is the exercise you ‘love to hate’ the most? It works you but you HATE every second of it!
A: I love exercising because there is always a reward at the end, abdominal exercises are the most difficult but I remind myself that the real work starts when I want to stop – giving up because is not an option.
Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: Classy, conservative, and evolving.
Q: Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
A: I’m influenced by the city and my surrounding on a daily basis. But growing up in Los Angeles, CA has had a big influence on my overall style.
Q: At the gym, are you fashionable or non-fashionable in your fitness attire?
A: I have a months’ worth of gym clothes and I wear what’s on top of the stack that morning – not sure if it fits everyone’s definition of fashionable but I feel good in what I’m wearing. I often wear clothes that cover my entire body so when I am using a public exercise machine my skin is not exposed to the machine and loose fitted clothing so I am comfortable.
Q: What’s your eating/diet habits (paleo, eat clean, cheat day)?
A: My eating directly correlates to my lifestyle – making the best choices to enhance my future. I am not on a diet or specific constructed eating plan and to accommodate my schedule I cook a large portion of food on the weekend and store it for the week for grab and go healthy choices. I always post my weekly meals on my Instagram page with recipes and nutritional information.
Q: Favorite food treat (clean eating) and naughty splurge:
A: I enjoy eating garnet yams just about any way I prepare them.
Q: Biggest fitness accomplishment to date:
A: Waking up one day, deciding to lose 30 pounds, and actually doing it – anything is possible with the right mindset.
Q: Fill in the Blank: People would be surprised to know that ______
A: I named my Instagram after the late Amy Winehouse and my unborn baby.
With the right amount of focus, determination and mindset anything is possible. Gemma decided to commit to a lifestyle change and ensures success with proper nutrition. To get recipe ideas and exercise tips for your abs and glutes follow Gemma on Instagram and Twitter.
