Val’s Style – Two for One

Hola chicas and happy Wednesday halfway into the week and like always looking forward to the weekend!  I tend to mention getting the most out of your wardrobe and decided it was time to share some of my tricks.  So today I’m giving you a two for one!  I saw this dress and purchased it with the intention of wearing it as a shirt – I was drawn to the print, loved the collar detail and with the fitted elastic waist band, I knew it would be simple to transform from a dress to a shirt.  I’ve worn the dress both ways to work and added a thin braided belt for a bit of separation to break up the print.  I  prefer the casual Friday appeal of wearing the dress as a shirt and pairing it with dark skinnies.  Of course in the winter I LOVE to wear boots as much as possible and dark-brown knee boots do just the trick to finish the look.

Now on to the fun part changing the dress into a peplum top…the pretty simple trick with the built-in elastic waist simply roll the dress under and tuck the bottom into the waistband.  Once you have the dress rolled into place tighten the belt a little for more security the dress will stay in place.  Play with the portions at the bottom to create the shape you desire…the higher you roll and tuck the bottom the shorter and fuller the peplum effect.

What I’m Wearing:
Dress – Melodrama Boutique
Cardigan – Langford Market
Jeans – Forever 21
Boots – Shoe Dazzle
Belt – Old
Accessories – Langford Market

A style tip to remember many dresses can be worn as shirts with ease and some worn as skirts too!  Don’t be afraid to play around with your wardrobe because the options in your closet are ENDLESS.

So which look do you prefer dress or peplum top with jeans?
